The pupils in Second and Third Class worked very hard on their recent projects. Each student individually researched a county along the Wild Atlantic Way. We will have lots of choice for our summer staycations!

Well done to the pupils of Second and Third Class for working so hard on their projects. Each student inn Second Class researched an animal of their own choosing. The pupils of Third Class completed projects based on the Vikings.
Christmas Jumper Day
On Friday, 18 December, we wore our Christmas jumpers to raise funds for Cork Simon Community. We learned about homelessness and how we can help others.
Preparing for Christmas
We have been very busy preparing for Christmas. Our artwork during the last few weeks has had a Christmas theme. We were disappointed that we could not visit the residents of Conna Nursing Home this year. Hopefully the Christmas cards we made for our elder friends will make up for it.

Science Week
We had lots of fun playing with some homemade slime.

The Vikings



Third Class have been reading about the Vikings during the last fortnight, ahead of the project they will be completing based on the same topic. We have also been learning about symmetry. This week, both 2nd and 3rd class made these fierce and colourful Viking shields. They also managed to incorporate some lines of symmetry into their work.
The Twits
The pupils of 2nd and 3rd class have been enjoying listening to The Twits being read aloud in the afternoons. We were sickened to hear about Mr. Twit’s lack of table manners and poor hygiene practices! Have a look at what we imagined to be stuck in his hairy beard. We even came up with some adjectives to describe Mr. Twit.




Happy Halloween









There was lots of spooky goings on happening in 2nd and 3rd class for Halloween! The boys and girls were very busy concocting potions and planning all sorts of mischief. We even had a visit from “Fangy” the spider who seemed to really like spending time on Ms. McCarthy’s desk. He even got involved in our Gaeilge lessons!
Time Capsule
On Friday, 23rd of October, 2020, the boys and girls prepared a time capsule. Everyone contributed to the capsule and even helped to dig the hole. The time capsule has been buried in the field behind the school and we look forward to digging it up when our current 3rd class are in 6th class.





Month of the Holy Rosary
We have been learning about the rosary this week. We made these colourful rosary bracelets to help us to keep track as we pray.

Autumn Apples
Thanks to Fiadh for bringing in some delicious apples to share with everyone in 2nd and 3rd Class.

Tessellations with Third Class
Third Class have been learning about tessellating shapes this week. The boys and girls made some colourful patterns and designs designs using the school iPads.

School Year 2020/’21
Welcome back to school to the brilliant boys and girls in Second and Third Class. There were lots of smiles (and funny faces) on our first few days back to school.

Space Explorations
We have been learning lots about Space during the last few weeks. Some students have been very busy making out-of-this -world creations!
Signs of Summer
We have been keeping an eye out for some signs of summer this week. Our gardens are in bloom. The silage season has started and the bees are buzzing around busily.








First Holy Communion
Sunday, 10 May, was scheduled to be the First Holy Communion Day for Second Class but was unfortunately postponed to a later date. But that didn’t stop this gang from taking some pics to mark the day. Check out their wacky and wonderful photos below.
Habitat Study
This week, we have been busy learning about habitats. In between the rain showers, we have been out and about investigating in our gardens. Curraglass is home to many types habitats!





Phone a Friend
The students in First, Second & Third Class know how important it is to check in with loved ones during this time of social distancing. Thanks to Nanas and Grandads and uncles for taking part.



May Is Mary’s Month
We celebrate Holy Mary during the month of of May.

Learning from Home
We have been learning all about Africa from our homes during the last few weeks. Here is some super work done by one of our students in First Class.

Wednesday Well-being
During the recent lockdown as a result of COVID- 19, we have had to take our learning online. Pupil well-being is more important than ever. We have begun Well-being Wednesday in our classrooms at home! This week, pupils were invited to make a ‘Well-being Jar,’ and fill it with ideas of things they will look forward to when this uncertain time is over us. I’m sure each jar will be full up in no time!
Thanks to the students who sent us a snap of their colourful jars.
Happy Mind Day – Amber Flag
On Thursday, 12th of March, we held ‘Happy Mind Day’ in our school. Everyone came to school wearing their pyjamas or comfy clothes. Over €160 was raised in aid of Pieta House. A special well done to our Amber Committee for helping out on the day.




Sacrament of Reconciliation
Well done to our 8 students in Second class who received their Sacrament of Reconciliation on Tuesday 10th March in Glengoura Church. They practiced very hard in preparation for their First Penance. Thanks to Ms Sheehan for creating the beautiful scene based on the story of Zacchaeus.


Heritage In Schools
We have really been enjoying our visits from Mrs Barry, who has been teaching us all about setting seeds and caring for plants.



Spring Has Arrived
Spring has sprung in the Middle Room. To celebrate its arrival, we had our lunch outdoors. We also received some lovely daffodils which brightened up our classroom no end!

St. Valentine’s Bake Sale
Thanks to everyone who contributed to and supported our Bake Sale. We made an amazing €400, which will go towards beautifying our school garden. A special thanks to 6th class for helping out on the day.

More Projects!
Well done to the pupils of First and Second Class for completing projects about their favourite animals. We learned a lot during the week. For example, did you know that snails have poor eyesight and tortoises can live to be 150 years old?!!
The pupils in Third Class completed projects in pairs based on the Vikings.
