Many congratulations to our 2nd Class of 2020 who received their First Holy Communion at Glengoura Church this morning.
This was a very special occasion for many reasons. Their long wait from May 10th finally came to an end and with a little manoeuvring the suits and dresses fitted! The last First Holy Communion held at Glengoura Church was 55yrs ago in 1965 when two children from Lacken School were involved. We were very fortunate to have had Richard Higgins, one of these children, in attendance this morning, by coincidence and Richard was very happy to stand in with our communicants for an historic photo.
Many thanks to Fr. Billy O’Donovan, who made the ceremony so child-friendly and to the choir of Glengoura for their music throughout the mass. Thank you also to our teacher of 2nd Class, Ms. McCarthy , who assisted the families in the preparation of the children for this important day. A míle buíochas to all who helped out at Lacken Hall where lovely refreshments were served following the mass. Another first for Lacken, now under their newly replaced roof.
Enjoy your beautiful, sunny day, Aoife, Cian, Rebecca, Róisín, Jack, Bébhinn, Alfie and Béibhinn.
